tonight’s poem

17 Apr

Tonight’s poem

is submerged under water

in the basement of our new

house, while I – half a mile away –

wait in line at Dominick’s

to buy better

mops,

*

mops which still fail

to stem the flood

… and the rain rolls on.

*

While the mop drips,

bucket sloshes, and

water continues to pool

(where I wish it would not):

The rain rolls on.

Well… yes. Miss E was a mopping rockstar. We’ll call you later with details, though… We may need to do more than just dry things out.
