Flight

7 Apr

With a final
bounce
and all tray tables stowed
in their upright and locked
positions,
we land, devices held firmly
in our hands.

Reaching the ground,
we slow to a full stop
and taxi. We taxi. We
taxi for a long, long
time and one
million
hours
later,
we gather
our belongings
and stand in the aisle to deplane,

some of us home
and some of us
continuing on
to places like London,
Fiji, Florida or Maine.
