After trying the urban artist thing for fifteen years or so, I found my calling as a suburban soccer mom. I discovered this in a friend’s garage, climbing into her 7-seat family car (which she tells me is NOT a minivan) to deliver registration materials to the neighborhood soccer league while our daughters played with fairy houses and muddy sticks in the backyard and my friend’s son made paper guns inside with his Amma.
The soccer didn’t stick, but the suburbs did. Mostly.
I have a partner (yes, a girl), two daughters – one by adoption and one by falling in love with her mom – two dogs, two cars, and two cats. It’s a good life, and sometimes I share a slice of it on this blog. Mostly on Friday mornings.
I hope you’ll stop by again and let me know what you think, or how the journey (writing, parenting, any of it) is going for you.
YAY! I can’t wait to read this blog 🙂
Holy guacamole! RoiAnn, do you remember performing in a show during the mid-1990’s called “Kitty Hawk”? I do, ’cause I was in it with you!
Stumbled across your blog over at another “mama” site. I am also the parent of a soccer-loving seven year old girl (only child – dear hubby and I are “one and done”).
Anyway, I’m glad to see that you’re fulfilled and happy nowadays. Looking forward to reading about your adventures again soon!
Hello!!! Yes, I remember you – seriously? Wow. Great to see you out here on the worldwide web 🙂 You’re killin’ me – parent of a soccer-loving seven year old girl? It always surprises me to see how lives run parrallel. Still in the Midwest? Thank you so much for saying hello!!

i love your writing, too. you never cease to amaze me. you have always been so wise!
Thanks, Mom 🙂
Hi – I have a question for you. When you submit to Mamapedia do you post the piece on your blog first and then say it has already been posted or do you submit it and then wait a week or two to see if it gets accepted and then put it on your blog? Thanks! Christina
I post it first and then submit my favorites to Mamapedia. But I can see the value of waiting, so you can say, “As published on Mamapedia…” Whatever you decide – good luck!
Got it – Thanks! I was just curous.
How long does it take before you usually hear back from Mamapedia?
Hi Roiann. I love your blog and am so happy you are doing well and have adopted a beautiful little girl. I tried to become your friend on Facebook, but am not sure I did it right because I did not get a response. I filled in my email below and so hope to hear from you. Long ago your girl scout leader, Barbara Conroy
